LogCaster for HIPAA

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was created to ensure the privacy, security and electronic interchange of healthcare information. All health plans, health care clearinghouses, and any health care providers who conduct certain financial and administrative transactions electronically must comply with the regulation. The goal is to protect the privacy and security of health information that is electronic.

LogCaster for HIPAA provides real time notifications based on critical security events and performs corrective actions based on standards that you set so you are always aware of what is happening in your network. It identifies the events that must be monitored and recorded for compliance. When a specific event is identified, one or all of the following can take place: Notification can be sent, corrective action can occur, collect and store event information and/or report on information.

LogCaster for HIPAA provides the key reports that management and auditors rely on to prove that privacy and security controls for are in place and effective. It provides exactly what is necessary to prove that you have effective controls for electronic protected health information, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of this protected data.

Key Benefits

IT Departments need to be concerned with the HIPAA Privacy and Security Standards,
      which state:

Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all electronic protected health
information (EPHI) – including, security measures to ensure that EPHI is not improperly
     modified without detection

  • LogCaster for HIPAA detects access to EPHI and intent. It provides a means for immediate notification and response and produces evidence of the corrective activity. LogCaster for HIPAA also monitors the health of the servers hosting the EPHI to ensure uninterrupted availability.

Protect against any reasonably anticipated threats or hazards to the security or integrity
      of such information

  • LogCaster for HIPAA detects account management changes, administrator logon activity and any attempt to compromise the server’s auditing capability.

Ensure standards for proper workstation use and physical security of workstations that
      access EPHI

  • LogCaster for HIPAA extends its capabilities for securing servers to monitor access to workstations and to shared directories.

Ensure compliance by its workforce – including having hardware, software, and/or
procedural methods for providing audit controls

  • Rippletech Reporting can produce a baseline of system information, application information, users and privileges on servers hosting EPHI and can then report all account management changes, policy changes and system modifications.
